A Pretty Special Milestone for Hearth & Hide
When I started Hearth & Hide, I certainly didn’t expect to see our story featured in Farmers Weekly only a short time later.
What began as a small idea here at Cloudy Peaks Station has quickly become something I’m incredibly proud of. There have been plenty of late nights, a lot of learning as I go, and more trial and error than anyone sees behind the finished jars!
That’s why having Farmers Weekly recognise Hearth & Hide—and the bigger story behind what we’re creating—feels like a pretty special milestone.
The feature looks at how we’re adding value beyond the beef by turning a previously underused part of the animal into a traceable skincare range. It also shares a little about life at Cloudy Peaks, involving our girls in the business, and how the support of Kane and Marie has helped bring the idea to life.
For me, one of the most exciting parts is seeing a small rural business become part of a much bigger conversation about innovation in farming. There are so many valuable resources and stories within rural New Zealand, and Hearth & Hide is just one example of what can happen when we look at them a little differently.
Seeing our farm, our family and my products featured together has made the busy nights and steep learning curve feel very worthwhile.
A huge thank you to Annette Scott and Farmers Weekly for taking an interest in what we’re doing—and to everyone who has ordered, shared a post, recommended Hearth & Hide or sent me an encouraging message. Every bit of support genuinely means a lot.

It’s still early days for Hearth & Hide, but moments like this make me very excited to see where it might go next.
